If dressing for Sunday church is still part of your family’s traditions, you’ll be in heaven at Hannes Fashions at 7704 Ogontz Avenue with their large selection of hats in all the colors of the rainbow and dresses tailored on site. After a stop across the street at Hong’s Stationery & Gift Shop at 7709 Ogontz Avenue for accessories and cosmetics, head a few blocks to Uptown BBQ and Grill at 8010 Ogontz Avenue, where everything is drool-worthy and homemade, even dessert. It’s cash only but there’s an ATM (and take-out beer) next door.

After lunch head to Germantown, just 15 minutes by car, for a huge selection of sneakers including up and coming lines at G’town Sports at 5620 Germantown Avenue. And if you like to make your own threads, you’ll go gaga for family-owned Gaffney’s Fabrics just a little further down Germantown Avenue at 5401, whose 50 years of experience in the fabric business helps them keep their 10,000 square foot space filled with all your DIY-desires, and their loyal customers coming back for more. For the gentleman, Cultured Couture at 6379 Germantown Avenue is where the eccentric and elegant co-exist, as this boutique features both rare vintage and designer apparel.

A scenic 10 minute drive past an important area in America’s history will take you to Mt. Airy and Blacqskirt at 7161 Germantown Avenue, where a mother-daughter team’s line of womenswear draws a loyal crowd of customers from the tri-state area thanks to their figure-flattering designs. Two doors down, a collective of local designers share The Vendors Boutique, and have curated a lovely collection of dresses, separates, accessories, men’s ties and bath products.

Just across Cresheim Valley Drive in Chestnut Hill, it’s an embarrassment of fashion riches, with more than a dozen on-trend women’s boutiques, including local jewelry and fashionable accessories at Artisans on the Avenue and a refreshing pop of color and patterns at Bohemian Pink, at 8440 and 8638 Germantown Avenue respectively. When it’s time to put up your feet and admire your locally-purchased wares, grab a drink and a lite bite at the cozy bar in the historic Chestnut Hill Hotel at 8229 Germantown Avenue.
